EVASIVE GAMES A Mcswain Beck Thriller Book 2 edition by CR HIATT Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

This novel is evidence writers get better with each book. I enjoyed Gone At Zero Hundred, but loved this, the second book in the series, Fireworks On The 4th.

The story picks right up where the first book left off. Sydney, the narrator of this story, is faced with issues raised in the first book, and has to confront them. But as in life, things are so simple. Her personality, the investigation she and her investigative partner Cody are pulled into, who is also a potential love interest, prevent her from devoting the time needed to do so. Troubling Sydney's ability to deal with this is the lack of someone to talk to about her situation. I ached for Sydney when she visited her recently murdered mother's grave to discuss what she was feeling.

Ms. Haitt does a wonderful job of putting us in Sydney's head where we feel her turmoil. Throughout the book this reader wished Sydney could be less tom-boy and have a girlfriend to talk to. I also hoped, she could let go of some of her hate and talk to her father who's come into her life after not being a part of her eighteen years. But Ms. Hiatt does an excellent job keeping Sydney's character constant through this book so these issues couldn't be resolved easily.

All the while, Sydney and Cody have to find their friend Jaden who's being held in Mexico. This investigation doesn't go off easily with several twists and turns thrown in to thwart their efforts.

A situation that developed three quarters of the way through the book, gave me hope, Sydney issues would be resolved.

My only compliant with this book is I wish the climatic ending could've been drawn out a little longer. I would've liked to be held on the edge of my seat longer.

I look forward to the next book in this series, as well as other stories from C. R. Hiatt.

EVASIVE GAMES A Mcswain Beck Thriller Book 2 edition by CR HIATT Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Once again, Syd and Cody save the day with CR Hiatt's exceptional writing skills. The second book of the McSwain & Beck series is just as gripping as the first one, if not more. Hiatt is currently writing the third installment, which I can't wait for.
Great writer. Do yourself a favor and read this one. It's a story about late teens and it's extremely well written.
Great light reading experience - Syd & Cody are a likeable duet that seem to follow trouble at every unlikely turn.
Thin plot line but great escapist crime thriller.
Car Hiat will definitely be on my author watch list.
Two young private detectives go up against thugs and make believe ninjas. Some fantasy and lots of action, throw in revenge and you've got a page turner.
Quick read. Not having read the prior book. I was still able to follow characters' thought patterns. The quick acceptance of the main characters into international covert ops was a stretch. But I liked the plot and action well enough to consider reading the next in the series.
Okay... at this point I would follow these two, sexy, young heroes anywhere. Seriously! Syd and Cody have that simmering, smoldering, off-again, on-again `thang' that keeps the story hot and the action sizzling! By the time the 4th of July Celebrations actually arrive into their small City by the sea; ripe with Ninja's wearing dark ski masks, exploding balloons and covert operations, these two super heroes have it all under control. A bit of teary-eyed appreciation for the missing-in-action dad, who, eventually warms up the denouement perfectly. But, hey-it's YA and I'm all aboard for the next caper. Frankly, I can't wait for that moment when Syd and Cody... ahem...connect. Which, in itself...is fantastic story telling!
This book is the second in this series. McSwain&Beck (Sydney and Cody) are at it again. This time they have to save Jayden, their shy hockey friend, part of their trio. Jayden gets in deep when he accepts a job from someone he thinks is on the up and up. ( spoil alert if you didn't read the first book), Sydney meets her dad Jake and doesn't know how to deal with it when she comes face to face with him. Cody and Sydney have feeling for each other, will they come together as more than friends in this book? Sydney realizes she's in over her head on this case because ( spoil alert) Cody gets kidnapped from the firehouse, she has no choice but to call Jake for help. Will her father help? Does she form a relationship with him? Do they save Jayden before its to late? Will they save the town? Read this awesome conclusion to Gone At Zero Hundred 0000, Firworks on the 4th..C.R HIATT is a wonder with action and adventure in this series.
